Just wrong and off tangent

I'm swearing off "hate" blogs from now on (with the exception of dlisted because it's way too witty and funny).

In a fit of boredom, I dropped by Brian Gorell's blog yesterday. In one of his latest entries, he rants about Tim Yap's own blog entry, in which he (Tim) writes about a call center agent whom he overheards saying, "Ano ba ang pangalan ng bading na to?" referring to him (Tim).

Brian goes on a rampage because Tim had apparently denied he's gay before --- and with it, hurls gay slurs at Tim one after the other (I'm disgusted at his entry title alone).

Eh, who's homophobic now?

I left a comment in Brian's blog to bring up my main beef (not sure if he'll approve it):

1) What's wrong with being in the closet? As long as that person's not married, then it's no one else's business.

2) I would have been aboslutely pissed off by that call center agent's remark and would have had him suspended/fired (as opposed to Tim who talked nicely to him).

(Digression: A week ago, a group of former high school classmates invited me for a conference chat. When I entered the chat room, one remarked: "O ito na isa pang bading." I immediately left the room. Sensing that I was offended by it, that person eventually messaged me in private and apologized, and as a peace offering, invited me back to the room. To anyone reading this, you don't refer to a gay person as "bading" even if he is. He has a name.)

3) As a postnote, Brian offers this advice to Tim: "please use your spell check mate."

Coming from an actual horrendous speller, that's just funny.

i think brian's entry was (a bit) uncalled for. Im happy brian's extremely open to the entire world about being gay but there are some people (like Tim) who arent like that and he should have respected that. Cant expect every gay person to be out and about.
